Ray of Hope Medical Centre Ntinda

The Ray of Hope Medical Center had its humble beginnings in 1984, in a small room in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Mubiru (Directors), after they realized the great need for medical services in the Ugandan community.The first and second floors are now completed and have already brought medical help to hundreds of people in need. By the end of the month of June 2010 the second phase of the hospital, will be completed. While the third phase of construction proceeds, Monique and her staff of four nurses and two local doctor's will treat patients. -- Free Community Health Services are offered by different Medical personnel at the Center twice a      year.
-- Quartly Training of the Pastors on community health.
-- Radio programs on Family radio,105.3fm every Wenesday from 5 to 6pm.
-- Every Wenesday of third week, child health clinic & immunisation.

Monique Mubiru being a trained midwife nurse began the hard task, but her services were a drop in a very big bucket.

Mr. and Mrs. Mubiru offered to raise funds from friends both locally and internationally to acquire a commercial piece of land to construct a three-storied building complex for the medical center. To date the phase that covered all preliminaries and completion of the ground floor is completed, what is remaining is furniture, equipment and stocks of the necessary pharmaceuticals for the medical center to operate.

The medical center is located in Ntinda, Sempala Zone, Plot No. 2387, in Nakawa division of Kampala District, Uganda. Registered by the Ministry of Health under Medical and Dental Practitioner’s council, the medical center is one of the projects of Ray of Hope Ministries. The ministry is non-profit organization.

Annually, millions of Ugandans are compelled to live without access to proper medical care because of inability to afford the same.
The situation in Nakawa division where the medical center is located and surrounding areas is no different. In here, hundreds of thousands of desperate people live without access to proper medical care.

Even where subsidized medical care is provided at government hospitals, health centers and dispensaries, many patients cannot afford to acquire the necessary services because there are no adequate drugs.

Most unfortunate is that some of the Christian Mission Hospitals and other medical facilities formerly known to be sensitive to the medical needs of the impoverished without profit motives, prove to highly price their medical services leaving the poor with virtually none to medically provide.
Consequently, many people die prematurely while others turn to cults and the occult in desperate search for ‘free divine’ healing, wherein many suffer exploitation, abuse, ruin and deaths at the hands of ruthless cult leaders.  The situation is further complicated by the AIDS scourge that continues to ravage, impoverish and destroy many young lives and family breadwinners, leaving many dependants financially not catered for.

GOAL
To save lives through provision of adequate, affordable, accessible and quality medical care to the desperate.
OBJECTIVES

• Establish a functional maternity wing
• Complete construction of the three-storage medical center complex
• Establish a functional admission ward
• Establish a functional diagnostic laboratory
• Establish a functional minor cases operation theatre
• Establish a functional dental care & surgery unit
• Establish a fully fledged counseling center to counsel, comfort and encourage patients and their caretakers and families and address the youths’ adolescence needs.
• Communicate the good news of the crucified, dead and risen Christ to patients and their caretakers.
• Provide free medical care to 3,600 patients annually.
• Train 10 local community volunteer health workers annually for reaching out to the inaccessible patients.
• To provide direct employment.

Ray of Hope Medical Center, has become a vital part of the Ntinda  community, providing treatment for the destitute poor who come with malaria, typhoid fever, infections, and other poverty related diseases. While services are provided at a low cost, no one is ever refused treatment for lack of funds.

When completed, this project will be able to annually cater for and give hope to thousands of patients and their families who otherwise not have been able to afford quality medical-care.

Services Provided

Ray of Hope Medical Center offers the following services

4. pharmacy- well stocked.
5. occassional free HIV/AIDS testing as capacity allows.
6. Immunization and child care education
7. Laboratory Services.
8. out patient and Admissions.
9. Antenatal and Maternal services
10. Occassional free food distribution for children.
11. Handouts and posters (educational).
12. Radiology services (x-ray and scanning)
13. Radio programmmes at Family Radio 105.3 fm at 5.00pm every wednesday.
